Jiyeon Posts Cryptic Message 5 Months After Divorce: “I Cried As Much As The Cigarettes You Smoked”
On April 6, Jiyeon posted a short video and a caption on her social media account that read, “Cano instead of Kono” (a play on Korean karaoke terms).
The video shows Jiyeon singing in a car while traveling. She chose Lee Ye-jun’s emotional ballad “On That Day” and displayed her powerful vocals throughout the performance.

The lyrics caught fans’ attention for their emotional depth, with lines like “I cried as much as the cigarettes you smoked,” “Don’t say my words were hurtful,” and “You couldn’t do the homework I finished it for you.” Many interpreted the lyrics as a reflection of Jiyeon’s emotional state following her divorce.
Jiyeon and professional baseball player Hwang Jae-gyun tied the knot in December 2022. However, their marriage was plagued by multiple divorce rumors before the couple officially split. The rumors gained traction when a commentator mentioned their divorce during a live radio broadcast, and further speculation arose when the couple was seen without their wedding rings.

Both parties eventually confirmed the news, stating, “The two could not overcome their differences, and after a period of separation, have agreed to divorce and submitted a mediation request to the Seoul Family Court.” The divorce was finalized on November 20.
After the divorce, Hwang Jae-gyun resumed his sports career and shared a cryptic Instagram story quoting lyrics from Fall Out Boy’s “The Phoenix,” including the phrase “I’m preparing for war.” As his first post after the divorce, it attracted considerable public attention and stirred conversations online.
